Dressed for the occassion

Christmas is such a special time of the year. This year, my husband and I shared this occassion with our mothers, at a quaint restaurant, Verona at the Gateway on Monash. The food was divine, service was great and the company was, of course, wonderful.

For all special occassions, one must wear suitable attire. I was lucky enough to receive the perfect garment for Christmas from my husband, very fitting for an occassion such as this.

Instead of a Little Black Dress (LBD), I chose to wear a Little Navy Dress (LND) and I do prefer the latter. Why? You ask, when the LBD rates so very highly on the top ten must-haves in a woman's closet?  Well it's simply because navy is a softer, more feminine choice of colour and oozes French chic. You must try it some day, if you haven't done so already, and you will be amazed at the result.

Made with the softest crepe fabric, this LND feels lovely on the skin. The drape of the dress itself flatters a woman's curves perfectly. I just love it and know that I will get alot of wear out of it for years to come. I chose to pair the dress with nude heels to elongate the legs.

The dress comes from the Sea Monsters collection by Karen Walker, a New Zealand designer. The collection boasts a lovely array of garments, from silk tops with little octopus prints to stunning brocaded skirts and dresses made from shantung silk. Karen Walker is stocked at Pearl Rock, Black Rock, Melbourne.

We are planning a special New Year's Eve celebration at home this year. I am looking forward to seeing the New Year out in style and can't wait to show you what I'm going to be wearing!

I'd love to know how will you be celebrating the New Year and what you're planning to wear.

Yours in style,

Suzi x

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. In the end we decided upon raspberry, strawberry, vanilla & mango! The morning was quite fresh, so I decided to wear a layer of silk/cashmere over my silk chiffon shirt. This magical blend always comes through when I'm in need of extra warmth and comfort. This ensemble was the perfect match for my raspberry coloured skirt!  For a picnic, flats seemed like the perfect choice, because of their practicality. So I decided to bring a touch of mango to the gelati mix! These mustard coloured, patent leather ballet flats, are so chic and comfortable. They are one of my favourite pairs of Repetto ballet flats, purchased from the fabulous Alice & Deb at Treasurette. Check out

I love miu mui

My absolute favourite international designer has to be mui mui . I find myself falling in love again and again, with each new season collection. Muiccia Prada's label is fun, feminine and fabulous!  We're really lucky to have a mui mui store in Melbourne actually. For anyone who has ever been to Chadstone Shopping Centre, you would know it is the fashion Mecca for anyone looking for high-end designer clothing and accessories. Every single time I go to Chadstone, without fail, I pay a special visit to mui mui. I know mui mui garments, shoes, and accessories are on the more expensive side, but a girl can dream right? There's just something extremely appealing to me that keeps me coming back season after season. Now to save up for a piece to call my own some day...            Do you have a high-end international designer who you really enjoy? Who is it and what makes them so appealing to you? Enjoy t

sandy liang fall/winter '22

It's been some time between posts as I have been waiting for something to inspire me. So when one of my favourite designers, Sandy Liang, released the look book from her new Fall/Winter '22 collection, I was so excited, that I decided to edit these looks into ten of my favourites. Sandy Liang stays true to her aesthetic each season. Like previous collections, there are hints of Marie Antoinette and Ballet. The way Sandy Liang fuses the two together is amazing. I am drawn to anything to do with ballet, so, of course, I love this collection! My favourite pieces are the cotton dresses with bow detailing, the trench coat dress, camel corduroy skirt pants and layered knitwear. So wearable, but whimsical in a very grown-up kind of way. Pure genius! Can't wait for the collection to land in Australia. Which are your favourites? Yours in style,  Suzi x Photos by  @zorasicher  c/o Sandy Liang NY
