The old and the new

While in Canberra, we wanted to see the hot spots, hence, we decided to visit the Old and the New Parliament. I can say I enjoyed the latter the most.  Old Parliament House took me on a journey back to the 70's, which was not so great, of mission brown and, well, more mission brown. On the other hand, the new-current-Parliament House was quite a contrast, to say the least. One cannot possible compare the two. They are, well,  the old and the new.  I would highly recommend going to both Parliament Houses. Make sure you have some fun at Old Parliament House in the kids' dress-ups section. That's what too much mission brown did to me! The guided tour at the new Parliament House comes highly recommended. For once, I wasn't put to sleep by the tour guide!! Floriade

Floriade is a festival held in Canberra, which celebrates the arrival of Spring in Australia. The festival runs for an entire month, from 15th September through to the 14th of October. It's a must for any garden enthusiast, of which I am. I was thrilled that Floriade was going to be on during our stay in the A.C.T. My husband and I have always enjoyed attending floral displays, having previously attended Melbourne's International Floral and Garden Shows on many occasions, as well as the Tesselaar Tulip Festival, Silvan.  The weather has been warm and wonderful while we've been away, unlike the cool Melbourne weather I usually experience. It's made for a refreshing change, just perfect for a road trip. I hope you're having a perfect weekend!  Keep your eyes peeled on my blog, as there will be many more highlights I can't wait to share with you. In the Capital

We left Lakes Entrance early this morning, headed towards the NSW border, stopping at Bombala and Cooma, snow country. The trip became a little mundane after a while and I tried amusing myself on YouTube and the Internet. We didn't have much time to plan our music on itunes before we left home, so had a choice of rock and power ballads-argh!! We set the music to random and, in the end, I admit it did drive me quite crazy. itunes, here I come. I think you'll be my saviour for the trip on the way home! Along our travels today, we saw many beautiful sights, including some shy little sheep, most of which ran away as soon as we approached.I managed to snap this pic, before they ran away! When we arrived in Canberra, I must say I started feeling quite patriotic, knowing this is our country's capital city. I am a proud Aussie, after all.  I last visited the A.C.T (Australian Capital Territory) back was when I was just a little girl. My family wen

Lakes at Last

It's been quite some time since my husband and I last stayed in Lakes Entrance,Victoria. We really love it here and feel blessed to be given yet another opportunity to visit once again. During our time at Lakes, we're staying at Belleview in a spa suite and have wireless Internet, which comes in handy for blogging!! Here's a few quick pics of the room which I took as soon as we arrived. My husband and I went for a long walk from one end of the main area of Lakes to the other, passing many little cafes, boutiques (mainly with knic-knacks) and surf wear shops to boot. We took a walk along the pier and saw some black swans, swimming gracefully along the water's edge. On our way back to the room, a kindly gentleman told us we had to stop and look. I had no idea what we would see and low and behold there they were: Beautifully fluffy chics with their proud mumma swan!! They were so cute. So far, our road tr
