Melbourne Cup Day 2015

Lately, work has been taking up a lot of my spare time. It is the busiest time for teachers with end of year testing and report writing. Now that I have almost finished my reports,I will have more time to dedicate to my blog. This year, Melbourne Cup was spent at home, with my husband and mum. As the occasion was fairly low key, I opted for my M Missoni dress. This dress has been a fabulous investment and has already paid for itself as far as cost per wear goes. These Bally patent pumps are my most comfortable heels, perfect for a relaxing afternoon. After the race, we retreated to our tropical garden and enjoyed a scrumptious afternoon tea with macaroons which I purchased from La Belle Miete, Chadstone.    Unfortunately, we didn't back the winning horse, but we had a lot of fun watching the race! What have you worn to the races? I'd love to see your outfit details, so please leave your link below. Yours in style, Suzi x Dr

The Perfect LBD

One weekend, I went looking around the international designer section of Myer, when, all of a sudden, something made me stop dead in my tracks. There hanging on a black, velvet, gold hanger was the most perfect LBD. The dress in question was designed by Giambattista Valli , Paris. It was made from the most luxurious silk and lined in floaty silk organza. There was a bow detailing the neckline and waist. Accents I adore. I held my breath in anticipation. Would it fit? Being a petite size, it is incredibly difficult to find clothing with the right proportion, style and fit. When I tried the dress on, I let out a sigh of relief. It fitted me perfectly, so much so that I wondered whether it had been made just for me.  So I guess my quest of finding the perfect LBD is now over....well, for now anyway, that is until the next Giambattista Valli dress!  Just kidding! Wishing you a beautiful week! Yours in style Suzi x Giambattista Valli silk LBD Repetto sued

Shop like a Parisian

Is your closet full to the brim? Do you often say that you have nothing to wear but yet have clothes sitting in your closet, some of which still have tags attached? If you in fact answered 'yes' to both questions, it's time to start shopping like a Parisian! A Parisian woman pays careful consideration to what she already has in her wardrobe and looks at what she needs and sticks to a plan, without going off track and spend money on unnecessary items that will end up hanging in the closet unworn. For years now I have been shopping like a Parisian and it certainly has paid off. No longer do I buy things on sale, well,  because they're on sale (does this sound familiar?), but now I have a set plan which is leading me to a more workable closet. By that, I mean choosing garments that can be easily worn in more that one way to create a multitude of different looks. I will never buy an item if I cannot see it working with clothing I already own. I

sunshine and cashmere ruffles

Right now I'm enjoying a relaxing Friday night on my couch with my laptop, looking for some inspiration for a new blog post. While looking at some happy snaps from April this year, I found these selfies of me in my courtyard; the sun shining upon my face, wearing one of my favourite cashmere sweaters with these cute little ruffles. These photos make me smile, knowing that it won't be too much longer until Spring. Thank God for that! Hope you have great weekend!  Yours in style Suzi x Sweater: Hoss Intropia

M Missoni Prefall 2015

My blog has always been my little hobby and I love how I can return to it whenever I feel like indulging in some of my own "style time", so to speak. My work as a teacher seems world's apart from my love for all things fashion related. But, that's just the thing. How wonderful is it that I can have the best of both world's, my teaching world and my fashion world, as well as my love for all things beautiful?  Talking about all things beautiful, M Missoni's Prefall '15 collection has just been released. The colours are reminiscent of the 70s and having grown up in this era, it fills me with sweet memories, as I reminisce about my childhood. I love the combination of burgundy, brick orange, saffron, turquoise, navy, the geometric prints, iconic stripes and checked designs. There's nothing I don't like about the collection and I'll be feeling rather excited when it hits our Australian shores! What are some designer collections you are loving ri

on my wish list

On my wish list at the moment is this Burberry Prorsum technical silk A-line skirt in black. I absolutely love A-line skirts and dresses! They are universally flattering on every body type. If you don't own an A-line skirt or dress, its an item of clothing that you can always rely on. It can take you from day to night and is guaranteed to make you look amazing with every wear! Unfortunately, Melbourne does not yet carry the Burberry Prorsum line. However, since the line is available in Sydney, that's a pretty good excuse to organise a shopping trip, don't you think? What's on your current wish list? Yours in style, Suzi x Thanks to Burberry for the images xx

cashmere & leather

For my birthday back in May, my darling husband gifted me with this gorgeous Kate Sylvester leather skirt. I had been eyeing it off for some time so you can imagine how happy I was to have it hanging in my very own closet! This cashmere sweater was a gift to myself. I really love the combination of cashmere and leather. It's perfectly chic and cosy for chilly days. What are your favourite Winter pairings? in the spotlight : kate sylvester

I'm loving New Zealand designer Kate Sylvester right now. Her Autumn Winter '15  Tartt collection is both classic and edgy. Key pieces include silhouettes with longer hemlines, leather skirts and jackets in buttery soft lamb nappa leather, chic shirt dresses and menswear inspired pants. My faves are the leather skirt in brown , the caramel toned long Lexie skirt with matching mohair short sleeved Marion knit top with hints of red. I'm also in love with the Birdie dress in caramel. I'm a classic kind of girl and that's why this particular collection resonates with me. Kate Sylvester's AW '15 is available now at Myer . In the spotlight is a brand new blog series, whereby I select a designer and share my take on their new collection. Let me know if there is a designer you wish to discover in the comment section below.  I hope weekend is going well so far.  I wish it would s-l-o-w down a bit! Weekends seem to go by way to

pop of colour

I'm often seen dressed in black, navy and grey, but sometimes, I feel like wearing a pop of colour. These pants are a favourite of mine. I love the fact they're mustard and the fact the print is subtle. Just perfect for petites like me! Although I prefer wearing skirts and dresses, these pants are super comfy. Maxmara really know how to tailor their clothing to suit a woman's silhouette. I think I may just have to buy another pair... Wishing you a fabulous weekend!
