The Horses are on the Track

I cannot believe how fast this year is going! It's heading towards Christmas now and the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday has come and gone in a flash.

Last Tuesday, for Melbourne Cup Day, we decided to do what we did last year; stay home, relax and enjoy watching the big race in the comfort of our very own loungeroom. Although the thought of attending the Cup is very appealing to me, I don't envy any woman having to stand in heels all day, especially in the rain. You'd need to be wearing some comfy heels with a matching umbrealla, that's for sure!

To be honest with you, I really love the fashion more than the horse racing itself and love dressing up for the occassion. I decided to wear black for my base and add a touch of pastel, with my favourite digital printed shirt by Melbourne based designer, Jolet.

Who knows, maybe next year, I may be lucky enough to even attend. Did you go? How was the experience for you? For those of you who live abroad, have you ever attended a horse racing extravaganza?

Hoping the week ahead is fabulous for you! I will be working on my student reports. Lucky me!

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. In the end we decided upon raspberry, strawberry, vanilla & mango! The morning was quite fresh, so I decided to wear a layer of silk/cashmere over my silk chiffon shirt. This magical blend always comes through when I'm in need of extra warmth and comfort. This ensemble was the perfect match for my raspberry coloured skirt!  For a picnic, flats seemed like the perfect choice, because of their practicality. So I decided to bring a touch of mango to the gelati mix! These mustard coloured, patent leather ballet flats, are so chic and comfortable. They are one of my favourite pairs of Repetto ballet flats, purchased from the fabulous Alice & Deb at Treasurette. Check out

Ballistic for Bally

I have always loved Bally , especially their shoes. They're made with the softest, luxurious leather I have ever worn. Bally were my first ever pair of high end designer shoes and they fit like a glove. So this post is going to be dedicated to one of the most prestigious design houses and their amazingly comfortable, chic shoes.  Here's some of my favourites from Bally's new S/S '12 collection: Which is your favourite? I love the classic black Otty-Crest pump and the teal and navy Palda wedge sandals. Have a great week! Mine will be an interesting one. I finish teaching for the term this coming Wednesday and go on a staff retreat to Creswick for the rest of the week. I'm looking forward to breathing in the crisp, clean country air! My top ten must-haves!

Fashion fads come & go, but real style stands the test of time. As mentioned earlier, I'm one for classics versus trends. I love buying clothing that lasts and is therefore timeless.  I have put myself up for the challenge of finding classic pieces using Audrey Hepburn as an example. Here's my list of the top ten must-haves!! 1. Man's style classic buttoned down white shirt 2. LBD-Little Black Dress 3. A-Line dress/skirt 4. Trench Coat (Burberry is the original) 5. Black turtleneck sweater (Preferably cashmere) 6. Leopard print (one piece at a time/NEVER more than one!!) 7. Silk Scarf (Preferably Hermes) 8. Ballet Flats 9. Pearls (Earrings/necklace) 10. Investment handbag (look to Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Prada for classic styles)   What's your favourite out of my top ten must-haves?  Enjoy your weekend and, whatever you do, make sure you do it in st
