Update on Ralph Lauren in Australia

Most of you guys know how very fond I am of Ralph Lauren clothing, particularly the runway womenswear Collection label. I have published multiple posts showcasing this iconic American brand. The impeccable quality, fit and style of the Collection label is second to none-the creme de la creme, shall we say. I think the Ralph Lauren Purple Label for women, now named Collection, has the best slim fit cashmere sweaters on the luxury designer market today. I own several pieces. But now that's about to change.

Why, you ask? Because Ralph Lauren Melbourne, Australia, is no longer going to carry the luxury Collection label. That's right folks. You heard it right.

On a recent birthday stay in Melbourne earlier on in May, I visited the Ralph Lauren's Flagship Store on the Paris end of Collins Street. I had saved up my hard earned money to purchase another slim fit 100% cashmere sweater in Lux Tan. I looked around in the store eager with anticipation, hoping to find the sweater in question, but to no avail. I could not see ANY Collection label, ANYWHERE!! At first I thought I was going completely bonkers, but soon realised that the entire womenswear department was now filled with clothing from the lower end label, Ralph Lauren Polo! You have got to be kidding!

I asked the sales consultant whether the cashmere Collection label sweaters had come in yet (I had called a month prior and was told they would arrive in May/June) and she told me that the Collection label for women is no longer going to be available in Australia. I can understand that it is on the higher end of the market, therefore may not sell as fast, but in my opinion, certainly worth the investment. After years of stocking this luxurious label, why change? I was in total shock and confusion.

Ralph Lauren, I doubt whether you'll ever gaze your eyes upon this blog post, but if you do please reconsider this decision. Australians are most deserving of your high end product. Melbourne, in particular, is at the epicenter of style and fashion and to remove this label completely is absolutely ludicrous. At the bare minimum, at least consider stocking the Iconic range. Another option would be to make the Collection label accessible online with shipping to Australia. At the moment, Australians are unable to purchase anything from ralphlauren.com

I AM ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED.

Who's with me? Will you miss the Ralph Lauren Collection label as much as I will?
Would love to hear how this change will affect you.

Yours in style,

Suzi x

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. In the end we decided upon raspberry, strawberry, vanilla & mango! The morning was quite fresh, so I decided to wear a layer of silk/cashmere over my silk chiffon shirt. This magical blend always comes through when I'm in need of extra warmth and comfort. This ensemble was the perfect match for my raspberry coloured skirt!  For a picnic, flats seemed like the perfect choice, because of their practicality. So I decided to bring a touch of mango to the gelati mix! These mustard coloured, patent leather ballet flats, are so chic and comfortable. They are one of my favourite pairs of Repetto ballet flats, purchased from the fabulous Alice & Deb at Treasurette. Check out

Ballistic for Bally

I have always loved Bally , especially their shoes. They're made with the softest, luxurious leather I have ever worn. Bally were my first ever pair of high end designer shoes and they fit like a glove. So this post is going to be dedicated to one of the most prestigious design houses and their amazingly comfortable, chic shoes.  Here's some of my favourites from Bally's new S/S '12 collection: Which is your favourite? I love the classic black Otty-Crest pump and the teal and navy Palda wedge sandals. Have a great week! Mine will be an interesting one. I finish teaching for the term this coming Wednesday and go on a staff retreat to Creswick for the rest of the week. I'm looking forward to breathing in the crisp, clean country air! Olga De Polga

Melbourne based designer Olga de Polga  is renowned for their use of colour and vibrant patterns. I really enjoy adding a pop of colour when I style outfits, so if you love colour, you are bound to find something fabulous. On my recent visit, I picked up two pairs of Lillian pants, a new style to ODP, in both pink and caramel. These colours go so well with other pieces in my wardrobe. Style tip: I will not add anything to my wardrobe if it doesn't go with other pieces, so I am very particular when choosing a new piece to add to my collection. The cords fit really well, sitting at mid-waist and fall at the perfect length. The corduroy fabric is soft and feels so cosy, so perfect for Winter here in Melbourne!  Have you visited Olga de Polga? If so, what are your favourite pieces? If you haven't been in store yet, make sure you do so soon, because some styles are selling out really fast. Have a great rest of the week! Yours in style, Suzi x  What I'm Wearing ODP Lillian pants
