M A R N I @ Belinda

Last week, while running a few errands, I decided to stop for a nice little wander around Hawksburn Village. This quaint village boasts a large selection of beautiful boutiques, stocking local and international designer labels. One of my favourites would have to be Belinda.

Belinda stocks one of the most highly desired Italian high-end labels; M A R N I. What drew me to each garment from the current Spring/Summer '13 collection, was the use of simplistic, classic styling, pastel colours and an exquisite and sumptuous selection of Italian fabrics, from silk to cashmere. I was in heaven!

On a mannequin draped an adorable, feminine, lemon A-line dress. It actually reminded me of something Miuccia Prada may have designed herself. In fact, there were subtle hints of Miu Miu coming through this collection, for example, in the pocket-placement of the dress and the necklace, not unlike Miu Miu's Cameo necklace.

Another favourite piece from this collection was a simple white tunic top, at the perfect length (not too long, not too boxy) with a black ribbon trimming along the neckline, very reminiscent of Madamme Coco Chanel herself. I would love to add this garment to my collection!! Who knows, I may be able to pick it up when Belinda have another sale. I would style this in a myriad of ways, including a classic pair of black cigarette pants.

Belinda are currently offering up to 50% off selected styles from their previous season, including garments from M A R N I. They are located at 584 Malvern Rd, Hawksburn &, for your convenience, are now open on Sundays.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend so far. I spent a relaxing morning at my fabulous hairdressers, Rokk Ebony, and the rest of the day was spent pottering around the house. Tomorrow afternoon my husband and I are going to do a spot of shopping before going to the movies to see The Hobbit. I'm looking forward to it!

If you're at a loss of what to do and you're in Melbourne, why not go for a little drive to Hawksburn Village and pop into Belinda while you're there! I'm sure you'll find something you love.

Yours in style,

Suzi x

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. In the end we decided upon raspberry, strawberry, vanilla & mango! The morning was quite fresh, so I decided to wear a layer of silk/cashmere over my silk chiffon shirt. This magical blend always comes through when I'm in need of extra warmth and comfort. This ensemble was the perfect match for my raspberry coloured skirt!  For a picnic, flats seemed like the perfect choice, because of their practicality. So I decided to bring a touch of mango to the gelati mix! These mustard coloured, patent leather ballet flats, are so chic and comfortable. They are one of my favourite pairs of Repetto ballet flats, purchased from the fabulous Alice & Deb at Treasurette. Check out ...

Olga De Polga

Melbourne based designer Olga de Polga  is renowned for their use of colour and vibrant patterns. I really enjoy adding a pop of colour when I style outfits, so if you love colour, you are bound to find something fabulous. On my recent visit, I picked up two pairs of Lillian pants, a new style to ODP, in both pink and caramel. These colours go so well with other pieces in my wardrobe. Style tip: I will not add anything to my wardrobe if it doesn't go with other pieces, so I am very particular when choosing a new piece to add to my collection. The cords fit really well, sitting at mid-waist and fall at the perfect length. The corduroy fabric is soft and feels so cosy, so perfect for Winter here in Melbourne!  Have you visited Olga de Polga? If so, what are your favourite pieces? If you haven't been in store yet, make sure you do so soon, because some styles are selling out really fast. Have a great rest of the week! Grace Kelly: Style Icon

Some of you may know already that I recently went on a country  girls' getaway with my mother to Bendigo to view the Grace Kelly: A Style Icon exhibition. I am so thrilled that I did! It was simply amazing.  The package I purchased was the Country Girls' Getaway, which included one nights accomadation at the City Centre Motel (4 star), breakfast, in-house Grace Kelly Movies, plus 2 x tickets to the exhibition. The special pack I received upon check-in, which included a terrific shopping and dining guide, special discounts and maps. The exhibition was held at the Bendigo Art Gallery. The session was timed by the hour to prevent the influx of visitors, which I felt worked really well. There was plenty of room and I didn't feel like I needed to hurry up, so instead, took my time, taking in every detail. I could have spent all day looking at every single minute detail of each and every one of the stunning gowns that adorned this beau...
