FashBizChics @ Paris '99

Last Wednesday, I attended the FashBizChic's event at Paris '99. FashBizChic's creator is stylist and wardrobe consultant, Sally MacKinnon of Styled by Sally. FashBizChics is a "networking collective of dynamic Melbourne women working in the field of fashion."1 Yahav Ron, owner of Paris '99, hosted this event in his studio, located in Elwood.

Tempted by flowing champagne and scrumptious nibbles, I was surrounded by fashionistas chatting away about various fashion related topics. It was really wonderful to get the opportunity to talk about everything and anything related to fashion and style.

Yahav led us on a guided tour of his studio to peruse his marvellous range of high-end designer pre-loved & new garments, some of which he has designed himself. With price tags of up to 80%-90% off the original price, dreams of owning a high-end designer garment can soon become a reality. I began to feel giddy with excitement, as I spotted many items I could see working for me in my existing wardrobe.

With high-end labels such as Dior, YSL, Lanvin, Balenciaga and Chloe, amongst many, many more, what's not to love? Yahav has an amazing eye for detail. I was very impressed!

So, if you're looking for a high-end designer item for your next special event, or to just simply add to your existing wardrobe, without the heavy price tags, contact Yahav to arrange an appointment. You will be assured you will receive 'impeccable service in a personal and private setting'2. I'm really looking forward to my next visit!

I hope you have all had a great start to the week! It's absolutely freezing here in Melbourne, so I'm having to rug up in my Winter woollies already!

Yours in style,

Suzi x

  1. This event looks like the best type of get-together: small, intimate, and filled with lots of great talk and, of course, champagne!

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. In the end we decided upon raspberry, strawberry, vanilla & mango! The morning was quite fresh, so I decided to wear a layer of silk/cashmere over my silk chiffon shirt. This magical blend always comes through when I'm in need of extra warmth and comfort. This ensemble was the perfect match for my raspberry coloured skirt!  For a picnic, flats seemed like the perfect choice, because of their practicality. So I decided to bring a touch of mango to the gelati mix! These mustard coloured, patent leather ballet flats, are so chic and comfortable. They are one of my favourite pairs of Repetto ballet flats, purchased from the fabulous Alice & Deb at Treasurette. Check out

Ballistic for Bally

I have always loved Bally , especially their shoes. They're made with the softest, luxurious leather I have ever worn. Bally were my first ever pair of high end designer shoes and they fit like a glove. So this post is going to be dedicated to one of the most prestigious design houses and their amazingly comfortable, chic shoes.  Here's some of my favourites from Bally's new S/S '12 collection: Which is your favourite? I love the classic black Otty-Crest pump and the teal and navy Palda wedge sandals. Have a great week! Mine will be an interesting one. I finish teaching for the term this coming Wednesday and go on a staff retreat to Creswick for the rest of the week. I'm looking forward to breathing in the crisp, clean country air! My top ten must-haves!

Fashion fads come & go, but real style stands the test of time. As mentioned earlier, I'm one for classics versus trends. I love buying clothing that lasts and is therefore timeless.  I have put myself up for the challenge of finding classic pieces using Audrey Hepburn as an example. Here's my list of the top ten must-haves!! 1. Man's style classic buttoned down white shirt 2. LBD-Little Black Dress 3. A-Line dress/skirt 4. Trench Coat (Burberry is the original) 5. Black turtleneck sweater (Preferably cashmere) 6. Leopard print (one piece at a time/NEVER more than one!!) 7. Silk Scarf (Preferably Hermes) 8. Ballet Flats 9. Pearls (Earrings/necklace) 10. Investment handbag (look to Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Prada for classic styles)   What's your favourite out of my top ten must-haves?  Enjoy your weekend and, whatever you do, make sure you do it in st
