2012

Happy new year to you, my wonderful readers! How did you spend the first day of 2012? I helped supervise my husband as he started putting together our new BBQ pergola out the backyard.

Earlier on during the day, we went for a drive to our local hardware store. While my husband went looking for the bits and bobs he needed, I browsed the garden centre and chose a beautiful Tuscan pot and yellow frangipani to plant inside of it. It's going to look amazing in our tropical garden!

Our weather has been very summery lately and today was no exception. In Melbourne, it was yet another scorcher at 35 degrees Celsius!

The coolest and cutest dress I own is my Odd Molly chemise. You can wear it over jeans, on its own during a hot day like today, or as a nightie.

A lover of grey, I had to have this and the Swiss embroidery and lace makes this garment such a sweet choice. The embroidered rose on the back of the chemise is divine.

Later on in the day, I took a break from handing things to my handyman hubby and frolicked in the garden, enjoying the balmy evening of Melbourne. And as I sat, I had a wonderful feeling inside of me that this year was going to be an amazing one. I felt it in my heart.

I would like to take this opportunity to warmly wish you a beautiful new year. Thanks so much for all of your continued support and for taking an interest in my blog. May you have a wonderful 2012!

Yours in style,

Suzi x

What I'm Wearing: Odd Molly embroidered/lace chemise made and designed in Sweden.

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. In the end we decided upon raspberry, strawberry, vanilla & mango! The morning was quite fresh, so I decided to wear a layer of silk/cashmere over my silk chiffon shirt. This magical blend always comes through when I'm in need of extra warmth and comfort. This ensemble was the perfect match for my raspberry coloured skirt!  For a picnic, flats seemed like the perfect choice, because of their practicality. So I decided to bring a touch of mango to the gelati mix! These mustard coloured, patent leather ballet flats, are so chic and comfortable. They are one of my favourite pairs of Repetto ballet flats, purchased from the fabulous Alice & Deb at Treasurette. Check out

Ballistic for Bally

I have always loved Bally , especially their shoes. They're made with the softest, luxurious leather I have ever worn. Bally were my first ever pair of high end designer shoes and they fit like a glove. So this post is going to be dedicated to one of the most prestigious design houses and their amazingly comfortable, chic shoes.  Here's some of my favourites from Bally's new S/S '12 collection: Which is your favourite? I love the classic black Otty-Crest pump and the teal and navy Palda wedge sandals. Have a great week! Mine will be an interesting one. I finish teaching for the term this coming Wednesday and go on a staff retreat to Creswick for the rest of the week. I'm looking forward to breathing in the crisp, clean country air! My top ten must-haves!

Fashion fads come & go, but real style stands the test of time. As mentioned earlier, I'm one for classics versus trends. I love buying clothing that lasts and is therefore timeless.  I have put myself up for the challenge of finding classic pieces using Audrey Hepburn as an example. Here's my list of the top ten must-haves!! 1. Man's style classic buttoned down white shirt 2. LBD-Little Black Dress 3. A-Line dress/skirt 4. Trench Coat (Burberry is the original) 5. Black turtleneck sweater (Preferably cashmere) 6. Leopard print (one piece at a time/NEVER more than one!!) 7. Silk Scarf (Preferably Hermes) 8. Ballet Flats 9. Pearls (Earrings/necklace) 10. Investment handbag (look to Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Prada for classic styles)   What's your favourite out of my top ten must-haves?  Enjoy your weekend and, whatever you do, make sure you do it in st
