For the Love of Audrey

I cannot believe how fast this year is going! It's heading towards Christmas now and the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday has come and gone in a flash.  Last Tuesday, for Melbourne Cup Day, we decided to do what we did last year; stay home, relax and enjoy watching the big race in the comfort of our very own loungeroom. Although the thought of attending the Cup is very appealing to me, I don't envy any woman having to stand in heels all day, especially in the rain . You'd need to be wearing some comfy heels with a matching umbrealla, that's for sure! To be honest with you, I really love the fashion more than the horse racing itself and love dressing up for the occassion. I decided to wear black for my base and add a touch of pastel, with my favourite digital printed shirt by Melbourne based designer, Jolet . My absolute favourite international high-end brand at the moment would have to be Valentino. It's just so damn feminine and ticks all of the right boxes for me.  Here I have featured the new collection for Autumn/Winter '12 .  If I was going to the races for the Melbourne Cup tomorrow, I would be wearing one of these beautiful dresses and exquisite heels . My favourites are the red puff lace and taffeta dress accompanied with the last pair of shoes pictures: a dainty heels, made with red suede and hints of metallic. So Feminine-so chic.  Valentino, Oh how I love you! Who's going to the races tomorrow and w hat will you be wearing?  I'm so much looking forward to catching up with mum tomorrow for Melbourne Cup Day. On this day, the 1st of November, 2011, I published my very first ever blog post on For the Love of Audrey. Little did I know that one year later, my blog would still be going strong. My blog has given me the opportunity to share my evolving personal style, passion for Australian designers, love of my style icon, Audrey hepburn, beauty tips, and much more... I do believe that over time, I have become more confident with my own style and am now unafraid of mixing things up a bit, from time to time. Over the past year, I have also undergone a change of hairstyles!! Thanks so much for reading my blog, even if you only pop in from time to time, please know that I really appreciate your loyalty and support.  I look forward to sharing many more posts with you . As some of you who read my blog on a regular basis would know, my husband and I recently went on a road trip around Victoria, the ACT and NSW. On our way back through V i ctoria, we stayed at a country town, well known for its history of winemakers; Rutherglen. Fourteen years ago, my husband proposed to me while we were on a romantic getaway in Rutherglen. This place is filled with nostalgia for the two of us, so we were really looking forward to returning. We chose to stay at Tulleries, which used to actually be a vineyard and still has remnants of the old vineyard, which surrounds the property. Our room was fresh and modern, featuring white, pops of colour and citrus lime green. Rutherglen is fairly limited in so far as top-notch restaurants. One restaurant I can highly recommend is called Taste of Rutherglen. Newly opened, it boasts a black and white checkerboard floor, red walls, local art and fabulous food!  Great wineries...

I love cute little things...that's my excuse for being a bit obsessed with Lacoste at the moment, and I'm sticking to it. I have quite a lot of garments I wear regularly out and about; usually the type of clothing that's considered dressier than it is casual. When my husband and I went on our road trip, I soon realised what was missing in my wardrobe; casual basics.  Lacoste have been around for as long as I can remember. I usually check out their boutique stores at Chadstone and Doncaster whenever I am there. The last time I went in to Lacoste at Chadstone, I found some nice khakis. I may just have to go into Lacoste and try them on. Casual khakis are chic and feminine. Paired with a heel, I can't see why they can't be dressed up as well. Are you a sucker for a petite crocodile?
