Alexa Chung-Modern Day Style Icon

Introducing Alexa Chung-modern day style icon and UK TV talk show host. I have always loved Alexa's quirky, feminine, gamine look.

What I love most about Alexa Chung is that she is not afraid to simply wear what she likes, rather than follow trends. I have commented before about fashion going in and out and style being the one constant. Alexa has that style. She rocks!

I also have noticed she wears the same dress many different ways or even the same pair of shoes. This is the way Parisian women dress and it's what I do. I find it so exciting shopping in my own closet, coming up with different oufits.  It helps to keep me inspired and is a great money-saving idea too!

Here's some of my favourite pictures of her! Enjoy!

Whilst I appreciate style icons, I never try to emmulate their looks. They offer me such great inspiration to continue to develop my own style, my own way, so I can be just me! That's so important. Always stay true to who you are. Don't try to be someone you're not.

Who is your modern day style icon & why?

Hope you've had a fabulous week. No matter what you've been doing or where you are in the world, make sure you're having fun wearing what makes you happy!! You can rock it too!

Yours in style,
Suzi x

  7. She does look very stylish, and beautiful!

I don't really have one main style icon - I like to get my inspiration from everywhere :) That's one of the fun things about fashion - so many different outfits in the world every day to be inspired by! :)

  9. Great post. I agree with you completely. I love trends but I try to put my own spin on them. I once had a friend tell me she was self conscious about wearing a certain item and I said "Who cares?" As long as you like what you wear, who cares what other people think? I try to live by that...

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. In the end we decided upon raspberry, strawberry, vanilla & mango! The morning was quite fresh, so I decided to wear a layer of silk/cashmere over my silk chiffon shirt. This magical blend always comes through when I'm in need of extra warmth and comfort. This ensemble was the perfect match for my raspberry coloured skirt!  For a picnic, flats seemed like the perfect choice, because of their practicality. So I decided to bring a touch of mango to the gelati mix! These mustard coloured, patent leather ballet flats, are so chic and comfortable. They are one of my favourite pairs of Repetto ballet flats, purchased from the fabulous Alice & Deb at Treasurette. Check out ...

Olga De Polga

Melbourne based designer Olga de Polga  is renowned for their use of colour and vibrant patterns. I really enjoy adding a pop of colour when I style outfits, so if you love colour, you are bound to find something fabulous. On my recent visit, I picked up two pairs of Lillian pants, a new style to ODP, in both pink and caramel. These colours go so well with other pieces in my wardrobe. Style tip: I will not add anything to my wardrobe if it doesn't go with other pieces, so I am very particular when choosing a new piece to add to my collection. The cords fit really well, sitting at mid-waist and fall at the perfect length. The corduroy fabric is soft and feels so cosy, so perfect for Winter here in Melbourne!  Have you visited Olga de Polga? If so, what are your favourite pieces? If you haven't been in store yet, make sure you do so soon, because some styles are selling out really fast. Have a great rest of the week! CHANEL Fall/Winter Haute Couture 2023/24

The CHANEL Fall/Winter Haute Couture 2023/24 was streamed live on Instagram this evening. The show took place along the banks of the Seine, beneath the famous Eiffel Tower. Striking combinations of colours were seen, along with ruffles, bow details on dresses and pattern clashing.  The looks were heavy on embellishments with the Houses' flower, the Camellia, along with hydrangeas and daisies, in a multicoloured kaleidoscope of colours. Twisted rope-like belts adorned models' waistlines and signature gold buttons adorned blazers. Surprising colour combinations were seen, such as red, black and charcoal, as well as orange, pink and gold.  My favourite from the collection was indeed the last look, as it reminded me of a modern take on the bridal gown Audrey Hepburn wore in the movie, 'Funny Face'.  The gown was simple, with a bow detail at the collar, longer sleeves and a shorter, fuller skirt, worn with a short veil. A perfect final look to the beautiful CHANEL haute cou...
