Classic Style

Investing in classics is my style philosophy. Over the years, I have made several fashion faux pas. Not any more.  So what is classic style? T he Oxford dictionary sums it up quite well, "classic: ( Of a garment or design) of a simple, elegant style not greatly subject to changes in fashion: this classic navy blazer." Whenever I invest in a classic garment,it's reassuring to know that it will be a garment which I can rely on time and time again, despite the ever-changing trends in fashion. It's a stayer, both reliable and functional.  On the top of my list of classics is the cashmere sweater. Cashmere is ten times warmer than wool and doesn't have the itch factor which is a characteristic of wool. It is soft to the touch and luxurious to wear.     After doing a check of the classics I have and still need, I realised that I didn't own a classic black crew neck long-sleeved sweater. Long Weekend

I really do love weekends! Saturday is usually my day for running errands and Sunday is more of a day where I can put up my feet and relax. This weekend, however, I have a long weekend! It's the Labour Day public holiday on Monday. Yippee! Excuse me, while I do a happy dance around the lounge room. First thing Saturday morning, I paid a visit to my hairdressers for a fringe trim. It grows like crazy, so to maintain it, I pay a visit every two weeks.   I felt like wearing a dress that wasn't too hot or cold, so chose this beautiful Karen Walker silk dress. Our weather has been cooler in the mornings of late. This Karen Walker dress feels very vintage-inspired to me, with the cut and drape of the fabric, even down to the print. I'm looking forward to going into the city on Sunday with my husband. While we're there, I'm hoping to purchase a new pair of knee high Winter boots.
