Like Finding an Old Friend-Anna Thomas AW'26

You know the feeling you get when you bump into an old friend-the feeling is a warm and fuzzy one-well, that is how I would describe my experience today when I stepped inside the beautiful Anna Thomas boutique, Hawksburn.

I was greeted by Eva, she was attentive to my needs and my style aesthetic-showing me a few piece she thought would work, I was wearing a pair of Megan Salmon linen pants in a mustard, almost chartreuse colour. I found a blush pink cotton/silk short sleeve pussy bow blouse (lucky for me it was on sale) and another top from the new AW '26 collection in a dusty pink-Merino wool, with long sleeves (Look One). The sizing is on the slimmer side, which is fantastic as I am slim and most brands are so oversized! These two items worked beautifully with my mustard pants and I could also see them working with other pieces in my closet too-like the grey and charcoal and the camel pieces I own already.

I highly recommend going into Anna Thomas-there are several locations around Melbourne. Have look at the new collection in person, feel the beautiful fabrics, see how well the collection works in perfect harmony-create your own capsule wardrobe with ease. A lot of thought goes into each collection and each season there are pieces that will work with the past collections.

I am looking forward to building on my new Anna Thomas pieces-and building my own capsule wardrobe!

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. In the end we decided upon raspberry, strawberry, vanilla & mango! The morning was quite fresh, so I decided to wear a layer of silk/cashmere over my silk chiffon shirt. This magical blend always comes through when I'm in need of extra warmth and comfort. This ensemble was the perfect match for my raspberry coloured skirt! For a picnic, flats seemed like the perfect choice, because of their practicality. So I decided to bring a touch of mango to the gelati mix! Valentine's Day 2025

Every year we absolutely love celebrating Valentine's Day and this year was no exception. I have been fortunate that my husband could take time off work to spend the day with me. There were so many options of what we could do and where to go, places like the countryside in the Yarra Valley or beach town of Torquay, but we ultimately decided to stay in Melbourne, as the weather was going to be around 23 degrees Celsius. There are many choice of cafes in Melbourne, but one of our favourites is Hello Sailor . I first stumbled upon this quaint cafe when shopping in Auburn Village, located in the leafy suburb of Hawthorn. I pre- ordered an almond croissant as they often sell out and since I cannot eat garlic nor onion, I am very limited with choices. Hubby chose the beef tacos which he enjoyed with a fresh juice and I enjoyed the loose leaf Earl Grey, which is served in the chicest see-through tea pot. We had a lovely chat and a relaxed time. Olga De Polga

Melbourne based designer Olga de Polga is renowned for their use of colour and vibrant patterns. I really enjoy adding a pop of colour when I style outfits, so if you love colour, you are bound to find something fabulous. On my recent visit, I picked up two pairs of Lillian pants, a new style to ODP, in both pink and caramel. These colours go so well with other pieces in my wardrobe. Style tip: I will not add anything to my wardrobe if it doesn't go with other pieces, so I am very particular when choosing a new piece to add to my collection. The cords fit really well, sitting at mid-waist and fall at the perfect length. The corduroy fabric is soft and feels so cosy, so perfect for Winter here in Melbourne! Have you visited Olga de Polga?
