all buttoned up

There's something about a shirt that's all
buttoned up. It's sleek, clean & crisp. I need to be in the mood for wearing one though, because there are times when I cannot stand anything wrapped around my neck, hence the lack of scarves in my wardrobe! I'm working on it though.

I hope all of you are having a fabulous week and are enjoying all of the fun that style brings with it. Thanks for all of your support with my blog, For the Love of Audrey. I am truly grateful. x

How do you prefer to wear your shirts? Buttoned up or buttoned down?

Yours in style,

Suzi x

What I'm Wearing: Shirt-Ralph Lauren, Skirt-Yeojin Bae, Wedges-Repetto.

  2. Looks great, especially with that skirt!

If I really HAVE to wear a shirt I wear it buttoned down. I tend to avoid shirts as much as possible though!

    1. Thanks Mica!
Do you find shirts uncomfortable? I always prefer buying a shirt with a percentage of elastin in it for comfort. The fabric has to have a bit of give in it!

  3. Really cute shirt! Looks so crisp and clean.

Since it's winter, and freezing in NYC, I like wearing mine buttoned up with a cute cuff necklace or scarf for added warmth.

  7. This looks great on you! I've been wanting to try this, but I don't have many collared shirts. So I guess I prefer it buttoned down. :)

    1. Thanks for your comment Catherine! Maybe one day you will find just the right collared shirt for you & wear it buttoned up! Shirts are extremely versatile & this particular shirt also looks great with a few buttons left undone.

    1. Matthew, I love my white shirts! I have a handful of them in my closet! Some with 3/4 sleeves, others long sleeves. They're incredibly versatile. I think they are such an essential, workable item. I like to keep my look simple without letting the accessories detract from the garments.
I'm glad you're enjoying my blog!

  9. I like both. Like you, I have to be in the mood for my shirt buttoned up all the way.

Love how you styled this outfit.

    1. Thanks Maycie! The most comfortable fabric to date for a buttoned up shirt has to be viscose! I have a gorgeous silk chiffon shirt which features a viscose placket & collar. It's so soft, you barely even realise you have it buttoned all the way up! Will definitely be on the lookout for another one like this.

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. In the end we decided upon raspberry, strawberry, vanilla & mango! The morning was quite fresh, so I decided to wear a layer of silk/cashmere over my silk chiffon shirt. This magical blend always comes through when I'm in need of extra warmth and comfort. This ensemble was the perfect match for my raspberry coloured skirt!  For a picnic, flats seemed like the perfect choice, because of their practicality. So I decided to bring a touch of mango to the gelati mix! These mustard coloured, patent leather ballet flats, are so chic and comfortable. They are one of my favourite pairs of Repetto ballet flats, purchased from the fabulous Alice & Deb at Treasurette. Check out

Ballistic for Bally

I have always loved Bally , especially their shoes. They're made with the softest, luxurious leather I have ever worn. Bally were my first ever pair of high end designer shoes and they fit like a glove. So this post is going to be dedicated to one of the most prestigious design houses and their amazingly comfortable, chic shoes.  Here's some of my favourites from Bally's new S/S '12 collection: Which is your favourite? I love the classic black Otty-Crest pump and the teal and navy Palda wedge sandals. Have a great week! Mine will be an interesting one. I finish teaching for the term this coming Wednesday and go on a staff retreat to Creswick for the rest of the week. I'm looking forward to breathing in the crisp, clean country air! Fashion fads come & go, but real style stands the test of time. As mentioned earlier, I'm one for classics versus trends. I love buying clothing that lasts and is therefore timeless.  I have put myself up for the challenge of finding classic pieces using Audrey Hepburn as an example. Here's my list of the top ten must-haves!! 1. Man's style classic buttoned down white shirt 2. LBD-Little Black Dress 3. A-Line dress/skirt 4. Trench Coat (Burberry is the original) 5. Black turtleneck sweater (Preferably cashmere) 6. Leopard print (one piece at a time/NEVER more than one!!) 7. Silk Scarf (Preferably Hermes) 8. Ballet Flats 9. Pearls (Earrings/necklace) 10. Investment handbag (look to Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Prada for classic styles)   What's your favourite out of my top ten must-haves?  Enjoy your weekend and, whatever you do, make sure you do it in st
