I can hear your hearbeat!

OMG! These were the first three words uttered from my mouth when I first cast my eyes on Karla Spetic's new Autumn/Winter '12 collection. The Heart collection has literally taken my breath away. I could feel my heartbeat racing with excitement. I cannot remember the last time that this has happened to me. There are plenty of fantastic creative elements and my mind boggles just thinking about where to begin.

I was taken back to my childhood days of reading comics, only this particular comic would have been snatched away from me before I could turn the first page!! I would have uttered the word, "Mummy, look! They're kissing!"  This is where the collection begins to heat up.

This sheer skirt is the perfect match, paired with the digital print of a passionate kiss! Very chic & sensual. I love the use of the yellow brogues which add a cute, casual flair to this ensemble.

My heartbeat continued to race as I came across this sheer shirt and skirt! I was thinking the other day that I would really like to delve more into the nude, natural palette and here, I can see this working for me so well. However, I would be wearing a slip underneath! I can see this layered over a black slip. I know a garment is going to be an essential item when I have a list in my head of its many styling options!

So these first couple of pieces from the Heart collection sure got my heart racing, but I wondered whether things would plateau from here on. As I continued to click my mouse to scroll along the look book, I had the feeling I would now be in trouble. I had a serious case of heart palpitations!!!

This skirt rang my bells and whistles because it's so unique, cute and whimsical, all at the same time. I am a fan of skirt which falls above the waist, as I find them to be the most comfortable. This A-line shape suits so many shapes, it's unbelievably practical!

Here's the same garment, but with the sheer skirt draped over the top! It's almost like a movie screen with the curtains drawn over it! The scarlett red brings some added drama to this look.

Below are two dresses from the same collection. The pop of colour is just perfect to brighten up any cold Autumn/Winter's day!

Karla Spetic has also used animal prints in this collection. Here are my two favourite looks to bring out the animal in you!

This dress is my all-time favourite! The baby blue contrasts beautifully with the black. A hint of leopard print is all that's needed! It actually flatters the waistline as it draws it inwards. You know I'm a big fan of the A-line!! So this dress ticks all the right boxes for me.

What are your favourite looks from this collection that send your heart racing?

Have a great weekend lovely readers! Be sure to check out Karla Spetic's online store here. The fabulous new Heart collection is coming soon!

    1. It's refreshing to find a designer who is able to have some fun with their designs, but also makes them practical for the wearer. I always get excited when Karla brings out her new collection! I am yet to own a piece, but hope to someday soon.

  4. I've been following this designer for quite some time. I loved her S/S 2012 collection, especially the dresses featuring keyhole cutouts in the front.

Lisa Perry did something similar with the Lichtenstein print a few years ago, but this one definitely has more of a romantic edge.

    1. Me too Anya! The keyhole cutouts were fabulous!
Thanks for the background info re: the name of the print used. Is Lichtenstein a German print?

  7. OMG; my heart is beating in unison.

Another unique and clever collection from Karla Spetic. I wish that I worked in fashion or design so that I could wear more of these pieces to work; like the leopard print number; sheer red skirt over the comic skirt print or the kissing couple top - I doubt that a top with PDA is quite appropriate in my workplace! In the meantime I'll see if I can get away with the skirt;)

    1. Yes, this collection is definitely a heart stopper! You could possibly get away with wearing the kissing couple top underneath a blazer. Only you would know what's underneath!! It would be a great after 5 look too. Simply remove the blazer & you're set for a fun night out with friends. Hope you're having a lovely weekend.

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. In the end we decided upon raspberry, strawberry, vanilla & mango! The morning was quite fresh, so I decided to wear a layer of silk/cashmere over my silk chiffon shirt. This magical blend always comes through when I'm in need of extra warmth and comfort. This ensemble was the perfect match for my raspberry coloured skirt!  For a picnic, flats seemed like the perfect choice, because of their practicality. So I decided to bring a touch of mango to the gelati mix! These mustard coloured, patent leather ballet flats, are so chic and comfortable. They are one of my favourite pairs of Repetto ballet flats, purchased from the fabulous Alice & Deb at Treasurette. Check out

Olga De Polga

Melbourne based designer Olga de Polga  is renowned for their use of colour and vibrant patterns. I really enjoy adding a pop of colour when I style outfits, so if you love colour, you are bound to find something fabulous. On my recent visit, I picked up two pairs of Lillian pants, a new style to ODP, in both pink and caramel. These colours go so well with other pieces in my wardrobe. Style tip: I will not add anything to my wardrobe if it doesn't go with other pieces, so I am very particular when choosing a new piece to add to my collection. The cords fit really well, sitting at mid-waist and fall at the perfect length. The corduroy fabric is soft and feels so cosy, so perfect for Winter here in Melbourne!  Have you visited Olga de Polga? If so, what are your favourite pieces? If you haven't been in store yet, make sure you do so soon, because some styles are selling out really fast. Have a great rest of the week! Yours in style, Suzi x  What I'm Wearing ODP Lillian pants

Grace Kelly: Style Icon

Some of you may know already that I recently went on a country  girls' getaway with my mother to Bendigo to view the Grace Kelly: A Style Icon exhibition. I am so thrilled that I did! It was simply amazing.  The package I purchased was the Country Girls' Getaway, which included one nights accomadation at the City Centre Motel (4 star), breakfast, in-house Grace Kelly Movies, plus 2 x tickets to the exhibition. The special pack I received upon check-in, which included a terrific shopping and dining guide, special discounts and maps. The exhibition was held at the Bendigo Art Gallery. The session was timed by the hour to prevent the influx of visitors, which I felt worked really well. There was plenty of room and I didn't feel like I needed to hurry up, so instead, took my time, taking in every detail. I could have spent all day looking at every single minute detail of each and every one of the stunning gowns that adorned this beau
