The search is finally over!

Have you been searching for the perfect cocktail/evening dress for like forever? Well, look no further. Let me introduce you to the amazing Melbourne based label, Cathleen Jia!

Cathleen Tan is the artistic director and designer behind the label. Cathleen Jia was launched 2011. After having had worked with established Melbourne designer, Anna Campbell, Cathleen had a desire and passion which led to her fulfilling her dreams of creating her own label. What an absolute inspiration for upcoming designers!

The launch of Cathleen's new Autumn/Winter '12 Premiere collection took place last weekend, at the opulent Domain Flowers, South Yarra. This was the perfect venue to showcase this superbly crafted collection. Guests were treated to cute cupcakes in Cathleen's signature colours, thanks to the sweet people at Cupcake Central, along with wine, courtesy of Tucks Ridge.

Most of you know already that I absolute love silk! Silk is my favourite fabric as it breathes, wears well and looks simply gorgeous! Cathleen sources all of her fabrics locally and chooses only the highest quality.

Cathleen's point of difference is her seasonal limited edition colour palettes. This season the limited edition colour is chartreuse. In addition to this, delicate lace and beading compliment each garment intricately. Another point of difference is that the garments are handmade locally!

My absolute favourite garment from this collection has to be the sophisticated and timeless Dame Ava dress. The cut is perfect for an LBD and I am in love with the way it drapes on the female silhouette. I prefer dresses which are covered at the back, and this dress has a panel of silk chiffon. I just have to have this dress!

For me, the search is finally over for the perfect dress for any occasion, be it a girly afternoon tea , wedding or dinner out with my husband. If you're ready to tune into your romantic, feminine side, be sure to check out the beautiful Premiere collection, available at Cathleen Jia now.

I hope you are all enjoying your week! Take care until next time.

Yours in style,

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. In the end we decided upon raspberry, strawberry, vanilla & mango! The morning was quite fresh, so I decided to wear a layer of silk/cashmere over my silk chiffon shirt. This magical blend always comes through when I'm in need of extra warmth and comfort. This ensemble was the perfect match for my raspberry coloured skirt!  For a picnic, flats seemed like the perfect choice, because of their practicality. So I decided to bring a touch of mango to the gelati mix! These mustard coloured, patent leather ballet flats, are so chic and comfortable. They are one of my favourite pairs of Repetto ballet flats, purchased from the fabulous Alice & Deb at Treasurette. Check out ...

Olga De Polga

Melbourne based designer Olga de Polga  is renowned for their use of colour and vibrant patterns. I really enjoy adding a pop of colour when I style outfits, so if you love colour, you are bound to find something fabulous. On my recent visit, I picked up two pairs of Lillian pants, a new style to ODP, in both pink and caramel. These colours go so well with other pieces in my wardrobe. Style tip: I will not add anything to my wardrobe if it doesn't go with other pieces, so I am very particular when choosing a new piece to add to my collection. The cords fit really well, sitting at mid-waist and fall at the perfect length. The corduroy fabric is soft and feels so cosy, so perfect for Winter here in Melbourne!  Have you visited Olga de Polga? If so, what are your favourite pieces? If you haven't been in store yet, make sure you do so soon, because some styles are selling out really fast. Have a great rest of the week! CHANEL Fall/Winter Haute Couture 2023/24

The CHANEL Fall/Winter Haute Couture 2023/24 was streamed live on Instagram this evening. The show took place along the banks of the Seine, beneath the famous Eiffel Tower. Striking combinations of colours were seen, along with ruffles, bow details on dresses and pattern clashing.  The looks were heavy on embellishments with the Houses' flower, the Camellia, along with hydrangeas and daisies, in a multicoloured kaleidoscope of colours. Twisted rope-like belts adorned models' waistlines and signature gold buttons adorned blazers. Surprising colour combinations were seen, such as red, black and charcoal, as well as orange, pink and gold.  My favourite from the collection was indeed the last look, as it reminded me of a modern take on the bridal gown Audrey Hepburn wore in the movie, 'Funny Face'.  The gown was simple, with a bow detail at the collar, longer sleeves and a shorter, fuller skirt, worn with a short veil. A perfect final look to the beautiful CHANEL haute cou...
