weekend with a twist

One cold Melbourne weekend, I decided enough was enough of my same old, same old up-do. So I experimented and came up with a messy bun (see here for another version)! 

Isn't it funny that when we want our hair to behave, it usually doesn't? When I'm not going out anywhere special, my hair pretty much turns out perfect. When I'm going out, it's more of an effort to get it right. I guess that's what we call Murphy's law.



 

Here's a really quick explanation of how I did this messy bun: 
First, put your hair back as though you are making a ponytail, but don't pull it through completely. You will have made a loop. Next, randomly select small sections of hair. Secure these sections with a bobby pin the same colour as your hair. Keep going, until all of the loose hair is pinned. Look in the mirror as you do this to guide you.




Do you have the same issue with your hair when you go out? Perhaps I need to start to let my creativity flow a bit more, just like I did on this particular day. It's nice to change things up a bit.

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. Ballistic for Bally

I have always loved Bally , especially their shoes. They're made with the softest, luxurious leather I have ever worn. Bally were my first ever pair of high end designer shoes and they fit like a glove. So this post is going to be dedicated to one of the most prestigious design houses and their amazingly comfortable, chic shoes.  Here's some of my favourites from Bally's new S/S '12 collection: Which is your favourite? Olga De Polga

Melbourne based designer Olga de Polga  is renowned for their use of colour and vibrant patterns. I really enjoy adding a pop of colour when I style outfits, so if you love colour, you are bound to find something fabulous. On my recent visit, I picked up two pairs of Lillian pants, a new style to ODP, in both pink and caramel. These colours go so well with other pieces in my wardrobe. Style tip: I will not add anything to my wardrobe if it doesn't go with other pieces, so I am very particular when choosing a new piece to add to my collection. The cords fit really well, sitting at mid-waist and fall at the perfect length.
