time to celebrate

On new year's eve, we spent the night celebrating the year that was 2011 over a fabulous seafood buffet, in the comfort of our own home. It was amazing! I was never much a lover of seafood until I met my husband. He introduced seafood into my life and I am happy he did! I'm now hooked, line & sinker, pardon the pun.

A while ago, I purchased a gorgeous Paul & Joe Paris aubergine strappy dress from a fabulous little boutique called Syrup, located in Hampton Street, Hampton. Kirsty Callow, boutique owner, has an amazing sense of style and goes out of her way to make you feel like a VIP! Syrup stocks some of the most amazing local and imported designers, including Odd Molly (Featured in the past posts My Weekend with Odd Molly and 2012).





What I love most about this dress is the way it falls when you're wearing it. The cotton is double lined, but delicate enough to flow beautifully as you walk, or whirl and twirl! I love the tie which is meant to be worn at the back with a bow. I prefer to wear it with the bow at the front for the simple reason that this dress is a little loose on me at the back. This way, it pulls the fabric in, giving me the perfect fit! 





I like the fact the dress has adjustable straps so that it can be altered according to your size. I had the straps tailored at the seams so that they have greater support to prevent any wear and tear or fraying. 
  



I have previously worn this dress with a pair of strappy heels, which is what one would usually wear, but I wanted to make a statement. I chose my suede platform heels to wear instead. I've read in many style books & mags that suede is usually reserved for the cooler months, but I like to make my own rules, so I wear suede all year round!

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. Ballistic for Bally

I have always loved Bally , especially their shoes. They're made with the softest, luxurious leather I have ever worn. Bally were my first ever pair of high end designer shoes and they fit like a glove. So this post is going to be dedicated to one of the most prestigious design houses and their amazingly comfortable, chic shoes.  Here's some of my favourites from Bally's new S/S '12 collection: Which is your favourite? Olga De Polga

Melbourne based designer Olga de Polga  is renowned for their use of colour and vibrant patterns. I really enjoy adding a pop of colour when I style outfits, so if you love colour, you are bound to find something fabulous. On my recent visit, I picked up two pairs of Lillian pants, a new style to ODP, in both pink and caramel. These colours go so well with other pieces in my wardrobe. Style tip: I will not add anything to my wardrobe if it doesn't go with other pieces, so I am very particular when choosing a new piece to add to my collection. The cords fit really well, sitting at mid-waist and fall at the perfect length. The corduroy fabric is soft and feels so cosy, so perfect for Winter here in Melbourne!  Have you visited Olga de Polga? If so, what are your favourite pieces?
