in the spotlight : kate sylvester

I'm loving New Zealand designer Kate Sylvester right now. Her Autumn Winter '15  Tartt collection is both classic and edgy. Key pieces include silhouettes with longer hemlines, leather skirts and jackets in buttery soft lamb nappa leather, chic shirt dresses and menswear inspired pants. My faves are the leather skirt in brown , the caramel toned long Lexie skirt with matching mohair short sleeved Marion knit top with hints of red. I'm also in love with the Birdie dress in caramel. I'm a classic kind of girl and that's why this particular collection resonates with me. Kate Sylvester's AW '15 is available now at Myer . In the spotlight is a brand new blog series, whereby I select a designer and share my take on their new collection. Let me know if there is a designer you wish to discover in the comment section below.  I hope weekend is going well so far.  I wish it would s-l-o-w down a bit! Weekends seem to go by way to...

pop of colour

I'm often seen dressed in black, navy and grey, but sometimes, I feel like wearing a pop of colour. These pants are a favourite of mine. I love the fact they're mustard and the fact the print is subtle. Just perfect for petites like me! Although I prefer wearing skirts and dresses, these pants are super comfy. Maxmara really know how to tailor their clothing to suit a woman's silhouette. I think I may just have to buy another pair... Wishing you a fabulous weekend! cashmere addict

Some people say they are addicted to shoes, I myself am addicted to cashmere. My sweater drawer is overflowing with cashmere now and I have needed to start using a second one!  During Autumn, I start planning out my Winter wardrobe in order to ensure that I have enough warm clothes to see me through the colder months. While doing my edit, I noticed there was a gap in the number of crew neck sweaters I own, so have been on the lookout ever since. Recently, I found a suitable cashmere sweater that ticked all of the boxes for me at Burberry London , Chadstone.  Burberry uses beautiful quality cashmere yarn in the manufacturing of their sweaters. I own another cashmere sweater from the Prorsum line, which I purchased about a year ago. I adore grey, from  just have the lightest heather greys to the deepest of charcoals. It's chic and works effortlessly with a wide range of colours.  I am now well prepared for the cooler weat...

layered up

It's Autumn in Australia so the weather is becoming progressively cooler. A typical Autumn day usually starts off really cold and by the middle of the day, becomes substantially warm. So just how do you dress to the suit these changes in the weather? The answer is quite simple really. Dress in layers! As a fellow Melburnian, I am used to having to add and remove my layers according to the changes in temperatures throughout the day.  What I love about layering is the fact you can get a lot more wear out of your Spring/Summer clothing by simply adding layers either over or under the garment, just like I've done here with my favourite Zimmermann dress. I've added a silk/cashmere sweater underneath for warmth. I could also add a leather jacket over this ensemble for Winter days. It's kind of like shopping in your own closet, creating new looks! Double bonus! Wishing you a beautiful Easter with family and friends. Hope the E...

life + family + love = blessed

Do you know how many times I have counted my blessings lately? Many a time. Whereas once I would have taken life for granted, now I see things with a different set of eyes and a fresh perspective. It's so important to be thankful for the simple things in life. Tonight we celebrated life for no good reason just 'because', with myself, my husband and my mother at our home. Who needs a special occasion to celebrate? Life is a celebration and we should be happy that we are a part of it. For our dinner, I cooked some roast vegies and my husband cooked a lovely succulent rack of lamb. We make a great team. Not one of us feels the other does too much or too little. (Another reason I am blessed) We drank French champagne and said a cheers to this wonderful life. Wishing you all a beautiful weekend and for those of you in Australia, a wonderful long weekend. Zimmermann

I ordered this stunning Zimmermann dress online after seeing the lack of Summer dresses in my closet. What I love about this dress is the broidery lace. It's absolutely exquisite. Whenever I wear it, I feel beautiful and, as far as I'm concerned, if a garment makes you feel that good, you know you're onto something very special indeed! Wishing you a wonderful week. I am hanging out for the long weekend! Yours in style, Suzi x

spend or save?

I am the first to admit that when it comes to saving, I'm no pro. Saving sounds easier than it looks in reality.  It's that time of the year where new season looks and trends start to launch online and in store. When you're trying to save up for something, whether it be an investment piece or other, this can be quite distracting and set you off track in an instant. So just how do you stay on track then? I don't have any fast-fix solutions. However, what I can offer you are some tips which may help to keep you focused.  My first tip is to keep clippings of what you're saving up for on your fridge or inspiration board or pin on Pinterest. Every day or so, take a good look at the image. This will reaffirm your desire to continue to save for the item in question so that you're less likely to give into other temptations. Another tip is to just buy the things you need, aka the things you run out of, in so far as skincare and beauty products and a...
