time to celebrate

On new year's eve, we spent the night celebrating the year that was 2011 over a fabulous seafood buffet, in the comfort of our own home. It was amazing! I was never much a lover of seafood until I met my husband. He introduced seafood into my life and I am happy he did! I'm now hooked, line & sinker, pardon the pun. A while ago, I purchased a gorgeous Paul & Joe Paris aubergine strappy dress from a fabulous little boutique called Syrup, located in Hampton Street, Hampton. Kirsty Callow, boutique owner, has an amazing sense of style and goes out of her way to make you feel like a VIP! Syrup stocks some of the most amazing local and imported designers, including Odd Molly (Featured in the past posts My Weekend with Odd Molly and 2012 ). What I love most about this dress is the way it falls when you're wearing it. The cotton is double lined, but delicate enough to flow beautifully as you walk, or whirl and twirl! I love the tie which is meant to be worn...

Last Christmas

It's hard to believe that Christmas has been & gone. Hopefully the pace settles down a bit from now on since it is the beginning of a brand new year. What I liked the most about Christmas was the fact I got the chance to relax & unwind with family & friends, after all of the craziness of work.  I love dressing up, as you know, and Christmas is the ultimate time for doing so. I chose to wear my Bettina Liano skirt with a printed blouse.  The blouse I am wearing can be worn in many ways. I chose to tuck it in here, but I have worn it out as well over denim jeans for a more relaxed look. The detailing on the blouse is a mix of florals/liberty prints and geometrical shapes. It's lightweight and so comfortable for warm days. The fact that it is made from 100% silk gives the garment breathability.     When looking for a garment, be it a blouse or a skirt, or even a sweater (and as you know already I am t...

2012

Happy new year to you, my wonderful readers! How did you spend the first day of 2012? I helped supervise my husband as he started putting together our new BBQ pergola out the backyard.  Earlier on during the day, we went for a drive to our local hardware store. While my husband went looking for the bits and bobs he needed, I browsed the garden centre and chose a beautiful Tuscan pot and yellow frangipani to plant inside of it. It's going to look amazing in our tropical garden! Our weather has been very summery lately and today was no exception. In Melbourne, it was yet another scorcher at 35 degrees Celsius! The coolest and cutest dress I own is my Odd Molly chemise. You can wear it over jeans, on its own during a hot day like today, or as a nightie.  A lover of grey, I had to have this and the Swiss embroidery and lace makes this garment such a sweet choice. The embroidered rose on the back of the chemise is divine. Later on in the da...

white singlet

It's a Czech tradition in my family to celebrate Christmas Eve together. I wanted to wear something cool and comfortable, yet chic & stylish. The weather this day was hot, so I opted for my white rib singlet and paired it with a statement piece, my Yeojin Bae skirt.     White T-shirts and singlets can easily be dressed up and are fabulous items to have in your closet. Each season it pays to replace those that no longer look so crisp and white. Both are fabulous items for Christmas sales shopping! I decided to accessorise with pearls once again. I always feel glamorous when I am wearing them! It must be the Coco Chanel in me!! I am wearing one of my favourite pairs of  Repetto pumps. The cute Mary Jane pumps suit the look I was after. The suede fabric complements the silk texture of the skirt.      What are your new year's eve plans? We're having friends & family over for drinks and a seafood B...

new girl in town

Some of you may or may not have heard of Sara Phillips. If you have, you know why I would be writing this blog, and if you haven't you ought to check her out on this link . Melbourne stockists include Hokey Curator and Alice Euphemia.  Short Paper Bag Skirt I first heard about Sara Philips through a stylist friend. When I saw Sara's garments, a chill ran down my spine. Her Autumn/Winter 2011 Unbridled collection blew me away. My favourite pieces were her silk printed shirts. I could tell this would be a long lasting love affair!   AW 2011 Unbridled Collection I don't yet own any of Sara's garments, but I have no doubt I will some day soon. Her online store looks fabulously chic! Here are some of my favourite looks from her High Summer 2011/2012 Natural Law collection. I am passionate about supporting local and Australian designers. If we keep purchasing from chain departments stores, these independent designers will cease to exist! Be ...

raspberry sorbet

Over the past couple of days, I have enjoyed catching up with friends for Christmas. It's been wonderful, relaxing, sitting around and sharing our stories from the year gone by. One of the outfits I wore out to a casual pub dinner, was my most treasured Yeojin Bae skirt in a beautiful raspberry colour, paired with a baby pink sweater.   The weather in Melbourne has been fairly warm. However, the evenings become quite cool and indoors is usually air-conditioned. I found the perfect sweater for the occasion; my Ralph Lauren, silk & cashmere blended short sleeved number.   Together, this ensemble reminds me of sweet raspberry sorbet; the sweet vibrant colour of the shantung silk skirt, combined with the soft, pastel shades of the baby pink sweater.  I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Take care over t...

gold & silver

I do admit to being a bit of a makeup junkie. One of my favourite go-to makeup brands is Estee Lauder. Back in May this year, I was lucky enough to get my hands on the very last limited edition Pure Colour eyeshadow palette in Wild Violet. This palette is perfect for the festive season as it features five eyeshadows which contain shimmery shadows in gold, silver and deep purple, as well as matt shadows in taupe and fawn. Pure Colour 04 Wild Violet Earlier on in the week, I attended a special graduation ceremony for the grade sixes at the primary school where I work. I decided to go for a more celebratory look, featuring gold & silver eyeshadows. I used my trusty Lancome Le Crayon kohl eyeliner in noir and the fabulously intense faux cils mascara by Chantecaille, also in black. I cannot live without this mascara. It's the creme de la creme!   As my eyes were quite intense, I left the lips fairly nude and chose to wear my Estee Lauder Signature l...
