Kate Spade Style

I have never been an avid reader of novels as such, but give me a book on style, and I'll happily read it front to back in no time at all! I have quite a nice selection of books on style and one of my all time favourites which I keep coming back to, is the book Style by Kate Spade. Kate Spade is a New York based designer whose love of colour transcends into ready-to-wear garments, accessories and home furnishings. Kate and her husband and business partner, Andy, created the label in 1996. Hailing from Melbourne, I tend to wear a lot of black, but have recently wanted to add more colour into my wardrobe. Kate Spade's style book as been an amazing inspiration in this quest! In Kate's style book, she shares some of her main style inspirations, including the places and people who have influenced her the most.  I love the section on the use of colour in your wardrobe and the combinations of colours which work well together. For instance, for pink, Kate...

Homegrown

A while ago, my husband & I purchased a portable, upright vegie & herb garden .  Much to our amazement, we have watched these tiny seedlings develop into mature plants. We have been growing roma tomatoes, broccoli, basil, coriander, parsley, carrots & strawberries (3 varieties). We don't have a very big backyard, so this planter we purchased was just the perfect size for a smaller garden. Do you like my bouquet? My husband surprised me with a bunch of broccoli! We ate it for dinner with our traditional roast which we have each Sunday. It tasted delicious! There is nothing quite like growing and eating organic herbs & vegetables.  I love the fact we're becoming more sustainable. Do you grow herbs & vegies in your garden? I'd love to know all about it!! Please leave a comment and join my blog, so we can keep in touch. Yours in style, S...

Chanel Beauty Boutique

A couple of months ago, I had the pleasure of attending the Chanel Beauty Boutique at Chadstone Shopping Centre, Melbourne, for a makeover. I was after a foundation which would hydrate my skin, after the harsh Winter climatic conditions had left my skin parched. After having read about Chanel foundations in magazines, watching countless YouTube videos and hearing really great things about Chanel foundations, I decided to try them out for myself! Where else other than the Chanel Beauty Boutique would one go to try Chanel products? The customer service is second to none and I was treated like a princess. The foundation that the sales assistant recommended for dry skin types was the Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Fluid Makeup in #20 Clair. This is a fantastic natural looking foundation, with an SPF15, that once applied, lasts all day long. The skin is able to breathe and never feels tight or looks cakey. Perfect!  For a high-end cosmetics brand, Chanel is at a very...
