Ginger & Smart in Melbourne

I was so excited to hear that Ginger & Smart were opening up a boutique right here in Melbourne. I was even more excited to find out that they were going to be situated right in the heart of Hawksburn Village, home to several beautiful boutiques and designers.

Ginger & Smart is the label behind two very talented and creative sisters, Alexandra and Genevieve Smart, whom already have three stores, located in Sydney, Melbourne being their fourth.

Upon entry, I was instantly impressed by the interior design elements of the store itself, with polished floorboards, clean lines and hints of metallics throughout, including delicate rose gold & velvet lined coat hangers.

I was greeted with a glass of sparkling champagne on arrival and a warm, friendly welcome. I chatted at length to one half of Ginger & Smart, Alexandra, whom I found to have such a warm and down-to-earth persona. It was a real pleasure meeting her today & I wish Alexandra and her sister, Genevieve, every success with their gorgeous new Melbourne boutique.

Showcased inside this fabulous space, lives the fabulous new Ginger & Smart Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, Between Somewhere and Nowhere. The inspiration behind this collection is the order and disorder of ancient rug techniques from all around the world.

Julia Nobis has been chosen as the perfect muse for this collection because she represents a woman with a "fierce and modern" persona, whom is seen as "polished and otherworldly".

For me, the stand-out pieces from this collection would have to be the mandarin coloured pants and blazer, the Talisman (Talisman is actually an ancient oriental rug technique) sleeveless dress in Egyptian blue and the cream/gold jacquard printed pieces. LOVE!! I can see these pieces working really well with my existing wardrobe and the pops of mandarin will brighten up any dull & dreery Autumn/Winter Melbourne day.

Ginger & Smart are also available from select boutiques and David Jones stores, both throughout Australia and internationally, in the UK, Hong Kong and Denmark. You can also get your hands on one of their gorgeous pieces online, where they are able to ship internationally as well, for those of you living outside these areas.

Why not take a trip down to 566 Malvern Rd, Hawksburn to check out this fabulous new space and their new collection for yourself AND if you mention this feature on my blog within the next three days, you can become a Black VIP Customer, entitling you to 15% off in store!! Now that's something NOT to miss out on. Offer is valid until Wednesday, 6th February, so hurry in to avoid disappointment. x

I hope you've had a fabulous weekend, doing the things you love! I had a bit of a scare yesterday as my hard disk drive died on me and I became increasingly worried that I would have to replace the laptop itself, BUT thanks to my  techno-whiz of a hubby, everything is restored back to its original technical glory. Thank God!!

Wishing you a beautiful week!

Yours in style,

Suzi x

gelati in the gardens

I was joking with my better half about the outfit I chose to wear to our special family reunion. We needed to travel into the city to the Fitzroy Gardens, and on our journey, we kept eachother entertained by thinking of gelati flavours which matched my oufit. In the end we decided upon raspberry, strawberry, vanilla & mango! The morning was quite fresh, so I decided to wear a layer of silk/cashmere over my silk chiffon shirt. This magical blend always comes through when I'm in need of extra warmth and comfort. This ensemble was the perfect match for my raspberry coloured skirt!  For a picnic, flats seemed like the perfect choice, because of their practicality. So I decided to bring a touch of mango to the gelati mix! These mustard coloured, patent leather ballet flats, are so chic and comfortable. They are one of my favourite pairs of Repetto ballet flats, purchased from the fabulous Alice & Deb at Treasurette. Check out

I love miu mui

My absolute favourite international designer has to be mui mui . I find myself falling in love again and again, with each new season collection. Muiccia Prada's label is fun, feminine and fabulous!  We're really lucky to have a mui mui store in Melbourne actually. For anyone who has ever been to Chadstone Shopping Centre, you would know it is the fashion Mecca for anyone looking for high-end designer clothing and accessories. Every single time I go to Chadstone, without fail, I pay a special visit to mui mui. I know mui mui garments, shoes, and accessories are on the more expensive side, but a girl can dream right? There's just something extremely appealing to me that keeps me coming back season after season. Now to save up for a piece to call my own some day...            Do you have a high-end international designer who you really enjoy? Who is it and what makes them so appealing to you? Enjoy t

sandy liang fall/winter '22

It's been some time between posts as I have been waiting for something to inspire me. So when one of my favourite designers, Sandy Liang, released the look book from her new Fall/Winter '22 collection, I was so excited, that I decided to edit these looks into ten of my favourites. Sandy Liang stays true to her aesthetic each season. Like previous collections, there are hints of Marie Antoinette and Ballet. The way Sandy Liang fuses the two together is amazing. I am drawn to anything to do with ballet, so, of course, I love this collection! My favourite pieces are the cotton dresses with bow detailing, the trench coat dress, camel corduroy skirt pants and layered knitwear. So wearable, but whimsical in a very grown-up kind of way. Pure genius! Can't wait for the collection to land in Australia. Which are your favourites? Yours in style,  Suzi x Photos by  @zorasicher  c/o Sandy Liang NY
